WE SAW THIS AT A REPAIR EVENT
Travel iron, damaged cable
WHAT KIND OF ITEM IS IT?
MiscCat is a web app for categorising the type of items brought to community events such as Restart Parties and Repair Cafés.
Volunteers collect data about the items that are brought into our repair events. The data is uploaded to Restarters.net and shared as open data.
This is where you can help, by playing MiscCat!
We want to reduce the number of devices categorised as "Miscellaneous" in our data.
Select from one of our existing EEE categories or from a suggested EEE category that we're planning to introduce ...
"Sewing machine", "Iron", "Clock/Watch", "Heater", "Landline phone"
...or from a suggested NON-EEE category that we're planning to introduce...
"Bicycle", "Toy", "Furniture", "Clothing/Textile", "Tool", "Jewellery"

Each item you're seeing was brought to a repair event to be fixed rather than thrown away.
What do we do with this data?
By learning why items break and how to fix them, we can share this knowledge with the world.
We help groups understand their impact, motivate their community, and support funding bids.
Repair data supports policy on the Right to Repair, making products more repairable, and reducing the environmental impact of electronics.
You can join us as a data volunteer.
